We are now distributing Coronado in our main territory and the Columbia area!

Coronado Brewing Company began as a brewpub in the heart of of Coronado, California, an island resort city. Founded in 1996 by Ron and Rick Chapman in their hometown, the brewpub’s popularity grew locally behind an assortment of hoppy West Coast-style ales. Before long, they started distributing their hand crafted beers to the local market just as San Diego County’s craft beer scene was beginning to gain traction.

In 2003, Coronado Brewing Company struck up a relationship with a local craft distribution company that allowed even more enthusiasts to get a taste for their Coronado Golden, Mermaid Red, and Islander IPA. The increased demand drove an expansion that increased their capacity by 230 barrels.

By 2010, CBC was brewing almost 5,000 barrels per year, expanding their distribution to outside of California. Demand kept growing. Even after the expansion, they could not keep up with all of the people who had fallen in love with beers such as the citrus laced Orange Avenue Wit and the hop-hammered Idiot IPA. Luckily, in 2012, Coronado Brewing built a brand new 30-barrel brewhouse in a 22,000 square foot building in San Diego, increasing their annual capacity to 60,000 barrels.

The Chapman brother’s mission has always been clear – celebrate their islander roots through the creation of exceptional beer. Now, thanks to their expansions, we have the opportunity to taste their brews.

IDIOT IPA – 8.5 abv 90 ibu

It doesn’t take a genius to know quality West Coast IPA’s require a stupid amount of hops. A generous blend of Nugget hops and the four C’s – Cascade, Centennial, Chinook and Columbus – brings forth a myriad of tropical fruit flavors and a brawny, persistent bitterness that makes for a highly intelligent brew.

ISLANDER IPA –7.0 abv 75 ibu

Named after Coronado Island, CBC’s original India Pale Ale is a liquid expression of hometown pride. Cascade, Chinook and Columbus hops combine to provide an explosive burst of piney bitterness and luscious notes of apricot, grapefruit and mango that are sure to evoke imagery of swinging palms and sun-kissed shores.

MERMAID LEGEND

According to local folklore, mermaids once inhabited the waters surrounding Coronado island, and those enticing “sirens” sang beautiful songs to attract seafaring explorers away from the dangerous, jagged rocks of Point Loma and into the safe harbor of San Diego Bay.

Legends are questionable, but one islander tale you can believe in is that of Coronado Brewing Company’s flavorful West Coast-style beers drawing locals and journeymen like a beery beacon to the warm embrace of Coronado’s sunny shores and the brewery’s front door. To that end, Coronado Brewing has embraced the mermaid as their trademark image. Allow their alluring icon to seduce you to the bold, trademark taste of San Diego’s vibrant and legendary craft brewing scene.

ORANGE AVENUE WIT – 5.2 abv 19 ibu

This So-Cal take on a traditional witbier honors Coronado’s main street, which is home to CBC’s brewpub and was once lined with orange trees. Bolstered by orange zest, coriander and orange blossom honey, its Belgium by way of Coronado. Expect a refreshing, light-bodied brew rife with citrus zing and a hint of earthy spice.

BLUE BRIDGE COFFEE STOUT –  5.4 abv 27 ibu

Just as the iconic Coronado Bay Bridge connects CBC’s island home to the mainland, this java-tinged dry stout, brewed using dark roasted coffee beans from a local San Diego artisanal roaster, provides a bridge uniting craft beer drinkers with CBC’s rich, flavorful SoCal brewing traditions.
